Vitrea Connection 9.0
The Vitrea Connection 9.0 release introduces a set of powerful services to our data orchestration engine to improve supportability, increasing performance, and scalability.
Support for Microsoft SQL Server
Many of our customers today support Microsoft SQL in their network. As a company, we want to standardize on a common database across all components of our Enterprise Imaging solution which already support MSFT SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server, often referred to simply as SQL Server, is a relational database management system (RDBMS) developed by Microsoft. It is a powerful and comprehensive database platform widely used in enterprise environments for managing and storing data. SQL Server supports the SQL (Structured Query Language) for querying and manipulating data, and it provides a range of tools and services for database development, administration, and business intelligence.
Microsoft SQL Server provides:
- Relational Database Management System (RDBMS): SQL Server is built on the principles of a relational database, which means it organizes data into tables with rows and columns, allowing for efficient storage and retrieval of information.
- Transact-SQL (T-SQL): SQL Server uses a variant of SQL (Structured Query Language) called Transact-SQL. T-SQL is a set of programming extensions that adds features to standard SQL, enabling developers to create more powerful and complex queries and procedures.
- Scalability: SQL Server is designed to scale from small, single-machine applications to large, enterprise-level solutions. It supports both online transaction processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP) workloads.
- Security: SQL Server provides robust security features to protect data at various levels. This includes authentication, authorization, encryption, and auditing capabilities to ensure that only authorized users can access specific data.
- Reporting Services (SSRS): SQL Server Reporting Services is a server-based reporting platform that enables creating and deploying various interactive and printed reports.
SQL Server has various editions.
Vitrea Connection supports 2019 Standard, Enterprise, and Datacenter editions.
Support for Red Hat Linux 9
The VNA has, for the longest time, used CentOS Linux as the base operating system for its services. The most recent release of the VNA is supported on CentOS 7; however, at the end of 2021, Red Hat discontinued the support of CentOS Linux. Our strategic direction is for all Enterprise Imaging platforms to be supported on common services to make deployment and services more accessible. With the introduction of version 9.0 and future releases, we will have support for Red Hat Linux.
Red Hat has become the most popular Linux Open-Source operating system. Because of its Enterprise focus, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) has become a standard for many of our current and future customers because it provides a stable and secure platform well-suited for businesses and organizations with critical workloads.
